How To Get Your Pet Spring-Ready

As the cold winter begins to subside, the promise of warmer days, gentle breezes, lush landscapes, and the brilliant hues of flowers in bloom are all very much welcomed. For pets, the new season can mean longer walks, more playtime outside, and a whole new world of scents and scenery to explore. It’s time to get your pet ready for spring.

Look At That Shiny New Coat

Think there’s more fur on your clothes and the furniture lately? It’s not your imagination. During the cold months, pets develop a thick undercoat to trap air warmed by the body, which serves as a type of insulation. As spring approaches, they begin to shed this fur. Help move the process along by combing or brushing your pet every day. Even better – try HandsOn Gloves. As the rounded nodules de-shed, the gloves give your pet a massage and stimulates circulation! The hypoallergenic latex-free gloves are made from surgical-grade nitrile.

Staying Fresh And Clean

Rolling in the grass, walking through flowerbeds, trotting on trails – pets can get pretty dirty in the spring. There are several natural grooming products for dogs and cats we love and invite you to check out, including shampoos, conditioners, foams, and wipes by Skout’s Honor, Kin + Kind, and Earthbath. Note – the HandsOn Gloves are also great for bath time! The gloves gently clean sensitive areas like legs, faces, ears, and tight body contours.

Supporting The Immune System

If your pet’s immune system is less than optimal, it increases their risk of experiencing seasonal allergies leading to itchy and irritated skin, watery eyes, respiratory issues, and more.

Strengthening the immune system can help the body naturally fight and even relieve these symptoms. Some excellent products to consider include:

Mushroom Support

Mushrooms contain a wide range of antioxidants and polysaccharides that help reduce the number of free radicals in the body.

The mushrooms featured in this formula have been shown to support the body’s normal inflammatory response, as well as both white and red blood cell production.

Probiotic Support

The digestive tract is home to billions of bacteria. It is the proper ratio of good-to-bad bacteria that keeps the immune system functioning well. Therefore, optimizing your pet’s gut microbiome helps improve their immune function.

For pets with digestive issues, it is important to offer a probiotic formula free of prebiotics. One I often recommend is Bark & Whiskers Complete Probiotics.

For pets with normal digestion, products I recommend that also contain prebiotics include Jackson Galaxy’s Complete Cat Probiotics, Vital Planet Flora Cat, and Vital Planet Flora Dog.

Externally, Skout’s Honor’s Probiotic Itch Relief for dogs and cats can offer fast relief for itchy and irritated skin.

CBD Support

Hemp-derived CBD can help support the immune system, as well as the body’s normal inflammatory response. This can mean relief from so many miserable allergy symptoms. For skin issues, I recommend The Topical Cream by Treatibles. It is fast absorbing, non-greasy, and does a wonderful job of soothing the skin. Just apply to the affected area and gently rub it in. Repeat as often as necessary

Check out the Treatibles line of oils and chews for dogs and cats for internal support.

Natural Pest Control That Works

Unfortunately, spring is also a calling card for fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes. If you are looking for a non-toxic, natural approach to staving off these blood-sucking and potentially harmful bugs, check out the full line of products from Wondercide.
